Water Journeys CD Release Party/Al Parrish of Tanglefoot

Hugh's Room, 2261 Dundas St. West, Toronto, ON

Coole Park
A  fusion of Rock and Celtic from the innovative fire of Aaron Solomon (violinist with Shania Twain, Big Sugar, Jeff Healey). Add Russell Edward Williams ("flawless...inspired guitar playing"-Whole Note magazine), Steve Heathcote (drummer with jazz legends Holly Cole, Guido Basso and Oliver Jones) and you have the magic of Coole Park. Coole Park - a Yeats poem, the intensity of Zeppelin, the  enchantment of Jethro Tull - musical storytelling at its best !   This concert launches Coole Park's debut CD.   "Water Journeys" pays tribute to our  sea-faring history, especially in the tragic tale of  "The Empress of Ireland"-Canada's greatest maritime disaster. Yet, it is distinctly contemporary with  fiery fiddle tunes, alt-rock originals ("River Song"/"Castaway")and a spirited punk-metal version of Al Parrish's  "Traighli Bay". There's truly something for everyone in this multi-genre fusion album, undefinable at it's core, yet if pushed might fall under  "New Celtic Rock". Not to be missed!

For those of you Tanglefoot fans who said, "I want to hear that bass player sing more",  here's your big chance!

Al Parrish
Al Parrish grew up in Toronto singing in church choirs and playing tuba in the high school band. A friend convinced him to join an after-school rock band, the first of many bands in many genres. In 1989, Al entered the world of folk/roots music when he and three friends created Brean Derg Muc, a Toronto-based, pseudo-Irish band that took the Ontario folk festival scene by storm during two years of brilliant success.  A couple of years of freelancing followed. Al met Aaron Solomon, while performing with David Stone, October Browne, Kirk Elliot, Jamie Snider and many others. In 1994, Al joined Tanglefoot and toured across Canada, the US, and the UK until December 2009 when they disbanded. Since then Al has been writing books, recording voice-overs for commercial television and radio, video games and movies, and has launched a solo musical career. Join us as Al kicks it off with Coole Park backing him up. For Coole Park's set, he will join the band on bass. It's going to be a great show! MUSICIANS: Aaron Solomon (vocals, fiddle, guitar, fearless leader)
